BIO

As a seasoned designer and developer, I enable emerging and established companies to transform concepts into consumer-driven products.
Over two decades of experience working for leading brands and design agencies, both in-house and as a consultant.
My specialty is helping brands refine their design strategies, innovations, materials, construction, branding, colorways, CAD tech packs, sourcing, and much more.
One of the many startups I provided strategic direction and design counsel to in recent years is Samuel Hubbard Shoes – including footwear design and development, branding, graphics, fit testing, trend research, packaging, and much more over its first seven years.
Extensive experience with product sourcing and development in Asia, Europe, Mexico, and the USA. Over a dozen trips to factories in Portugal and Italy in recent years. In previous years, I evaluated and worked with many factories in China and South Korea for both footwear and softgoods projects.
Many designs and technologies are patent pending and still in development, and thus not available to show in detail yet but recent examples include: rain footwear made in Mexico (37% lower tariffs and much quicker shipping vs China), a camera bag with integrated tripod, a versatile and highly durable bag/seat, a modular hunting harness, 3D printed footwear, a universal phone mount system, a record storage and display system, etc.
AWARDS     In collaboration with friends, designers, engineers, and clients I have won awards from Red Dot, the Industrial Design Society of America, Price Pfister, and the Oregon Manifest.
MEDIA     My creative and innovative designs have been featured on CNN nationwide and local Fox News, published in The Wall Street Journal, Fast Co., ID Magazine, the LA Times, and The Portland Tribune.
BRANDS     Keen Footwear, Danner, Swiss Gear, Superfeet, Samuel Hubbard Shoes, Bogs Footwear, Dunham Boots (at New Balance), Chrome Industries, Wenger, ShedRain to name a few.
